the beginning of our journey

Ever wonder where to start your upcoming journey. Well, I am going to fill you in on our journey. Rob and I started dating about 3 years ago and have been married now for 6 months. When we were dating the question came up about kids. Rob has 2 from a previous marriage but the question still came up if we wanted to have more kids. We discussed this and talked many times about if we did we would foster/adopt. My heart was always wanting to share my love with a little child who didn’t come from a family like I did. We really didn’t get into the whole process than. Just talked about it once and never really again. Until February 7th the day of the super bowl. We were getting ready for guests and out of no where Rob brings it up. We talked about it and he said he really would like to start the process and look into it. I reached out to a family friend who is fostering. She gave us details on the agency they use. I reached out to them and bam! That is when the whole thing started. I would say we are extremely lucky since both of us work full time and we were able to do all of our classes online. Once we finished the classes that is when the hard paperwork came in. The agency only uses paper, which we had to cram the last 10 plus years of our life in tiny little squares. Of course Rob’s section was rather easy as he has been with the same job and position. But being in the hotel industry you never sit still. I had to think of all the hotels, all the positions and the dates. Once we sent it in we didn’t hear anything. Than one day Rob got the phone call. Mostly because I didn’t hear my phone ring and missed the first one. We were starting our home study. She said “oh I will come on May 3.” Perfect 3 weeks to get our house perfectly cleaned. Well after he told me this she called him back and said “oh we would like to rush and get this started what about this Thursday.” I freaked. THURSDAY! Mind you both of us work on top of trying to get ready for us to head to Florida to get his moms car I now have to get the whole house cleaned. Well we worked together and the day came. She came and to my surprise I actually know her. Which made it a lot easier for her to be in our home. We then were given more paperwork to fill out and get working on for our next visit. Though we don’t know when that is we still are ready to open our hearts and home for a little one. I promise as our journey continues I will keep posting. Xoxo The Stones
